Shelley and Walt Gowell 1325 NE 16th McMinnville, OR 97128 As you tour the humble 1950 home of Shelley and Walt Gowell sitting on a half acre, you will be enchanted with the vignettes of vintage, hand-made and collected Christmas decorations. These include a collection of Margaret Furlong angels elegantly displayed, jolly snowmen, carved Santas on the mantle and a bookshelf full of Santa, (one dating to 1895), with a backdrop of children’s Christmas books and so much more. The family room’s traditional Christmas tree is lovingly decorated with ornaments that span 60 years. Inspiration for decorating your own home may come from the string of woolen mittens, a basket of vintage figural lightbulbs, jars of polished agates or the antique Coca Cola crate upcycled into an Advent calendar. Upstairs, you will be delighted by the fish themed tree and garlands of paper ornaments in Shelley’s Keeping Room guarded by a phalanx of Nutcrackers. Artistic Christmas wreaths are displayed throughout the house. This home will remind you of warm and happy holidays filled with the spirit of Christmas. |
