The projects are STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) focused and geared for elementary age students. Soroptimist President and Book Buddy volunteer Diane Longaker commented, “A smile, a snack, a book, a walk on eggs. I am so fortunate to be a part of the McMinnville Public Library Book Buddy Program. I love that Soroptimist partnered to share this awesome opportunity with such deserving children alongside the Library and Sue Buel! Today was my second Tuesday of watching children discover joy...what a tremendous treat!!! The Book Buddies program is one of many ways the McMinnville Public Library encourages students to read for enjoyment during the summer. Studies show that children and teens who keep reading during the summer have higher achievement rates in school overall. All are welcome to come to Villa del Sol Apartments on Tuesdays at 2pm to visit the bookmobile.
